Experience & Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer
  • Long-term experience and strong knowledge of machine design and Industrial Automation required
  • Design experience within medical, nuclear, aerospace, food, or packaging industry
  • Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks
  • Post Secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Design, and Drafting in CAD systems
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Outlook, Word, & Teams
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrates adaptability and the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Demonstrates innovative thinking and proactive/reactive problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to quality and safety

Mechanical Designer

Position Overview

Position Overview:

  • Report to Mechanical Design Lead
  • Generate concept designs, proof of principles, preliminary or final design CAD models
  • Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes as needed
  • Design and perform proof of principles
  • Create and generate the manufacturing package and associated BOM
  • Maintain detailed notes, design calculations, and other documentation (including drawings, bill of materials, list of design parameters and performance guarantees)
  • Effectively communicate, coordinate, and troubleshoot with all necessary departments, including Service, Manufacturing, Assembly, Sales, Electrical Controls, and Project Management
  • Provide customer support as needed
  • Review and adapt to information regarding product innovations, competitors, and market conditions
  • Follow design standards and best practices
  • Adhere to Health & Safety guidelines, as well as VTR’s Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Other duties as required

Schedule:

  • Day shift – 8:00am start time
  • Monday to Friday
  • In Person

Wage: $45-$50/hour depending on experience

Ability to commute/relocate:

Grimsby, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Work Location: In person
