We are hiring a Junior or Intermediate Mechanical Designer to join our growing team! Successful candidates must have long-term experience and advanced knowledge of SolidWorks. Candidates will demonstrate a team orientated attitude, initiative, critical thinking, strong attention to detail, and effective organizational skills within a fast-paced environment. As an asset, candidates may also have experience and demonstrated knowledge of machine design and industrial automation. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity.

Experience & Qualifications
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 1-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer
- Experience and knowledge in machine design and industrial automation as an asset
- Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks required
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Design, and Drafting in CAD systems or related program
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Outlook, Word, & Teams
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrates adaptability and the ability to work under tight deadlines
- Demonstrates innovative thinking and proactive/reactive problem-solving skills
- Commitment to quality and safety
Mechanical Designer
Position Overview
Position Overview:
- Report to Mechanical Design Lead
- Generate concept representation, proof of principle, preliminary or final design CAD models
- Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes as needed
- Design and perform proof of principle
- Create and generate the manufacturing package and associated BOM
- Maintain detailed notes, design calculations, and other documentation (including drawings, bill of materials, list of design parameters and performance guarantees)
- Effectively communicate, coordinate, and troubleshoot with all necessary departments, including Service, Manufacturing, Assembly, Electrical Controls, Sales, and Project Management
- Provide customer support as needed
- Review and adapt to information regarding product innovations, competitors, and market conditions
- Assist other team members as needed
- Follow design standards and best practices
- Adhere to Health & Safety guidelines, as well as VTR’s Mission, Vision, and Values
- Other duties as required

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, Day shift – Employee must be on-site by 8:00am
- 8.5-hour day with ½ hour unpaid lunch from 12:30pm-1:00pm
- Overtime available
Wage: $25-35/hour depending on experience
Work Location: In person; Grimsby, ON
Work Conditions:
- 100% on-site at our Grimsby facility
- Temperature controlled environment
- Manufacturing setting with exposure to loud work noises when on shop floor and prolonged or frequent standing
- Office environment with prolonged or frequent sitting at computer/desk
- CSA-approved Safety Shoes required
- Hearing protection and safety glasses provided when required
