About This Opportunity

We are hiring a Business Development Manager to join our growing Sales & Marketing team! This role is responsible for actively identifying and qualifying prospective customers throughout Canada and Northeastern USA through the development of strategic sales strategies, while fostering strong client relationships to promote and sell VTR’s automated parts-feeding equipment. While based in Grimsby, candidates must be available for local, national, and international travel to customer sites, tradeshows, and other networking events

Candidates must have previous long-term experience in a similar customer-facing sales or business development-related role, successfully prospecting, qualifying, and securing new customers. We are seeking an individual with a high degree of professionalism, strong written and verbal communication skills, and innovative thinking. Knowledge of industrial automation and equipment design would be a strong asset. This is a full-time, permanent role.

Experience & Qualifications

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum 8 years of verifiable experience in a similar sales or business development role
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
  • Previous experience using CRM software to track customer details, correspondence, and project information
  • Knowledge of industrial automation or machine design strongly preferred
  • Established network of contracts within Pharmaceutical, Medical Device Manufacturing, Equipment Manufacturing, Automotive Industry, or related industries
  • Demonstrated success in new customer research, acquisition, and closing the sale
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic sales plans that align with corporate objectives
  • Experience proposing and/or presenting thoughts, findings, solutions
  • Experience creating presentations, reports, and dashboards
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Outlook, Word, & Teams
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and time management skills
  • Exemplary customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Strong team player, with the ability to learn from others and transfer knowledge clearly
  • Demonstrates adaptability and the ability to adhere to tight deadlines
  • Ability to remain organized in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment/industry

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time for customer visits and trade shows in both Canada and the US.

Business Development Manager

Position Overview

Position Overview:

  • Report to Global Sales & Marketing Manager (GSMM)
  • Research and cold-call new prospective customers from approved target/industry list, building new relationships
  • Work with GSMM to establish potential target customers and industries
  • Gather customer information, assessing customer needs and identifying areas VTR could provide costumer solutions
  • Connect and brainstorm with other VTR team members (ie. Sales, Design, Electrical, Assembly, Manufacturing, etc.)  for potential solutions to customer needs
  • Create and present presentation
  • Ensure regular communication and follow-ups with customer via phone and email
  • Act as the liaison between the Sales department and VTR’s quoting team
  • Organize and attend in-person meetings and site visits
  • Work with GSMM to establish and continually update Sales Department “playbook”
  • Host webinars
  • Attend and work networking events, partner events, association events, and tradeshows
  • Collaborate with Marketing team to create and deliver customer Lunch & Learns sessions
  • Collaborate with Marketing team to create additional sales content
  • Connect and brainstorm with other VTR team members for potential solutions to customer needs (Sales, Design, Electrical, Assembly, Manufacturing, etc.)
  • Use of Zoho (CRM) to record all sales activities and correspondence and create reports
  • Create reports for Global Sales & Marketing Manager and Senior Management Team
  • Local, national, and international travel to customer sites, tradeshows, and other networking events
  • Follow all trained processes and procedures, including inputting and extracting information from software sources and maintaining the confidentiality of its content
  • Adhere to Health & Safety guidelines, as well as VTR’s Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Other duties as required

Work Conditions:

  • On-site role at our Grimsby facility, with national or international travel approximately 10% of the calendar year; Extended travel on weekdays and which may rarely bridge over a weekend or into the evening, for customer visits/outings and tradeshows globally.  Common travel methods include air and car travel.

  • Manufacturing setting with exposure to loud work noises when on shop floor and prolonged or frequent standing
  • Office environment with prolonged or frequent sitting at computer/desk
  • CSA-approved safety Shoes Required
  • Hearing protection and safety glasses provided when required

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, minimum 40 hours per week

Annual Salary: $90,000-$140,000 per year
